Christ in our Weakness

fcf (5 of 441)1As tough as life can be sometimes, it is important to remember that scripture tells us grace is all we need, and His Love is demonstrated through our weakness when we are dependent on him (2 Corinthians 12:9).

This photo was taken in May of 2011 after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Burma (Myanmar). Different reports say different things. It is difficult to get accurate information out of Burma because the government purposefully keeps information in and resources out of the country. This causes government dependency and reinforces the government position that nobody loves the Burmese people but the Government itself. At least 75 people were reported dead and hundreds injured, our sources contend there are many deaths that were not counted and censored from the press. While aid was provided to the southern boarder towns by large NGO’s, aid was not allowed to pass through the country to villages farther north. Several checkpoints were set up specifically to confiscate aid that was “unauthorized.” Through our various channels we have been able to deploy aid to those that did not receive any but there were some that the government would not allow to be helped. In these areas we challenged the Burmese Church to reach out to those in need. Our prayers have been and still are with those that lost loved ones and that God would do amazing ministry through the Burmese church as they reach people through mercy ministries.

While this is a horrible event we are praying that God will work in the lives of those effected by this earthquake. We pray that he demonstrates his love to those in need and it is made clear that the church of Burma does not exist in churches now laying in piles on the ground, but in the hearts of those that risk their lives everyday to follow Christ.

Often prayer is the only tool we have, even when we are on the front step of disaster. If you only have one tool, master it!
