Please take a look at our prayer spotlight this month. Mae’s story is encouraging and really demonstrates the power of Christ!

Doi Angkang Get-Away
This “high altitude” mountainous get-away is one of our favorites in Thailand. It has the great outdoors with dozens of gardens and hikes, good food, and most importantly PEACHES. That’s right. This is the ONLY place in Thailand were you can get fresh peaches. Our days were spent with friends and family in the great outdoors, drinking peach shakes, reading, drinking more peach shakes, eating, the more shakes, then some games, a nap and more peach shakes! After 4 days of this rigorous activity we felt refreshed and well…peachy…(I apologize for the corny play on words)
Another highlight of this get-away is the nearby military camp open to tourists. Aiden (pictured) & friends spent 2 hours running through the trenches and fox holes playing on every pile of dirt and tunnel in sight. Even thought this camp is a stones-throw (literally) from Burma, it is a safe place to learn about the Thai Military history with Burma and hasn’t been and hot-spot in many years. We will remember the peach shakes and Aiden will remember the trenches.
3 Years Old!
It’s a miracle. On April 3rd our little guy turned the clock one more year! Aiden got to celebrate with a pool party, friends, and an ice cream cake. Also this month we are celebrating another big Aiden achievement…Potty Training…of which is pretty much complete. We love the savings in diapers and convenience that this new landmark offers! We can’t wait for some of you to get to meet 3 year old Aiden this summer!
Short Term Missions
Over the Songkran Holiday (Also Spring Break) Nate had the opportunity to co-host a team from College Park Indiana. The team spent a few days in Chiang Mai warming up to the consistantly 100+ degree whether then traveled 2 hours north of Chiang Mai to a Lahu Village and assisted with a family camp for 4 days. The team did games, crafts, and music (Nate had a chance to rock out on his Djembe) for hours on end. The food was amazing and the people were great. It was great to have a chance to encourage some of our Lahu Pastors and shoulder some of the burden of their outreach. It is always a blessing to be encouraged by short term teams!

Wind Storm Damage (Bulletin Crop)
A windstorm whipped through northern Thailand and damaged the roof on this Thai Church.
Wind Storm Damages Rural Church
On April 7th a wind storm whipped through Chiang Mai and parts of Northern Thailand knocking over telephone poles and damaging rural homes. Polan, a village in northern Thailand where there are very few believers suffered damage including the loss of the church roof (Small bamboo hut shown in image). It will cost 300 USD to fix the building and make it safe for worship once again. In the mean time the gospel is still moving forward and we are praying that God would use this experience to minister to the people of this community. Please pray with us.

On a jet plane…
We are excited to announce that May 15th we are getting on a plane bound for the United States. Our furlow/home assignment this year will consist of 5 states and a total round trip of 26,000 + miles. Once we arrive in the states we will hop around a bit to ID, FL, AZ and then settle in CO (with a weekend in SD) as our home base until August 21st.
We are really excited to touch base with many of our family and friends that have loved and supported our ministry in Thailand. Contact us directly at nateullrich@thaiconnections.org to get on our calendar. We can’t wait!
Create Space
On Tuesdays Nate has been working with Ken Wade (missionary partner at FCF and friend) to start a technology club at Grace International School. The goal is to give more technically minded kids a bit of an outlet for creativity. Ken is a software engineer with 20+ years of experience whereas Nate just dabbles in electronics and programming (mostly as applied to organizational tools). In just a few weeks they will be hosting the first annual Submarine-a-thon where different teams will have the chance to race their sub through an underwater obstacle course. Nate & Ken have also created their own sub (in photo) to try to encourage creativity among the teams. This is a great opportunity for Nate to mentor some local kids and share his passion for technology.
