Each year in Thailand a large number of children find themselves in the permanent care of someone other than a birth parent. For some, this is the result of the death of their parents. Others have been turned over to an orphanage or other care facility, and still others have been abandoned in a hospital, a public place or left with relatives or neighbors.
Refuge Ministries Thailand was established to address the needs of these disadvantaged women and children in Thailand. The vision of Refuge Ministries Thailand is to see the sanctity of Family maintained, to see Mother and Child together as a family, having the support and resources available for them to develop, grow and become productive members of society.
Fundamental to the work of RMT is the belief that true, transforming change can only come through a relationship with Jesus Christ. It is our aim to help facilitate this relationship by assisting women and their children that are lacking social, financial, and emotional support within the framework of a residential program. We work help them gain the independence needed to be able to care for themselves and their child by teaching them new job skills, financial management, parenting skills, and general life skills. For those already on the path to independent living there is a great need for safe, healthy, and affordable daycare for their children while they are at work. Daycare facilities will be established to meet this need.
