Our hearts broke for her and her newborn baby. She told us that her house in the village is set up as a casino, even though gambling is illegal in Thailand. They also traffic drugs from the house and run an illegal cock fighting ring. She used to earn up to 60,000 baht (2,000 Dollars) per week selling drugs. She was just released from prison, where she gave birth to her son. It was a very, very hard day thinking that she will likely be back in prison before the end of the year if she walks out of our doors. What would happen to her 3 children? and her? We are praying that she reconsiders her decision. Please pray with us too. Tough days at Home of the Swallow.

Please help God. It has never hurt so much. Please God, reunite us. Every day the pain gets worse. Each day I love him and miss him more.
God I pray to you every day unable to stop the tears. I ask that you please bring the man I love back to me. Please show him how special what we had was, how there is nothing our love cannot conquer, and that you sent me him because I am the best woman for him, will be the best wife, and will be the best mother to his children. I ask for a quick reunion so we may start our re-bonding process, so he strays no longer, and so we can continue together on the journey we started.
God I pray for a second chance with the man I love. Please send him back to me so I can help him be a better person, like he once helped me. I know you brought him into my life to save me and I know now it is my turn to save him. God please break down his walls so he will let your love in, and also mine. Please God give us a second chance to serve you together as a couple, and let us be a blessing to our families and friends. Please rid him of this anger and coldness that has taken over him and fill his heart with the goodness of what once was. Please remove the fear from his heart and hold him accountable for the promises he made to not only me but also to you Lord, and please guide us on our way to marrying and creating the family and future we always planned on.

My heart hurts so badly for him that if I take time to meditate on it and churn it over in my mind, it makes me literally sick. Thank you so much.

On Friday, we welcomed a new mother and baby into our home. Unfortunately for our new Mom, the road she has traveled has been less than ideal. She is only 17 years old and has a 1 year old girl. She has just been released from juvenile detention for drugs charges and has a history of being involved in gangs notorious for drug trafficking, human trafficking, crime, and prostitution. We ask you to pray for this family that they may settle into our home well, because we know that it will be a very tough time for them and they will want their freedom more than anything else. Also pray for safety and protection of this family and for God to work in Mom’s heart so that she will want to change her life and her child’s life forever. The grandmother is very sick and slowly dying of HIV AIDS, so our Mom has little to no support networks at all. Very sad life that we pray will be transformed by the loving kindness of our Lord.
Somchai attends our Nursery and his parents are very poor as they work on construction sites and earn as little as $7 per day for their work as they are from the Thai Yai Hilltribe. Eh also has had problems with bone formation since he was born to Mom Song, and we are not sure whether he will ever be able to walk. He attends our Nursery during the days as well as Somchai.

The PH Japan organization has been a continual support for our 2 special needs children. P’Ae from PHJ comes to visit each month to provide emotional support to these 2 families and also financial support to attend Hospital appointments and buy special needs equipment. Last week Somchai received special walking shoes to help him be able to stand and keep his legs straight. Eh has previously received a back brace to help keep his back straight so the bones form better. We are very thankful that PHJ covered the financial burden of this to allow Somchai and Eh to develop.

PHJ also takes the families they help out on field trips and both our families were able to go to the Elephant Camp last week. All the children and parents had a wonderful time and were blessed by the fellowship and community. Everyone is very thankful for the support and blessings provided by PH Japan.
We fished all day and in the early afternoon we decided to settle down, and prepare for lunch. We started a fire and degutted the fish and the Tadpoles. After that we boiled water in a pot slowly adding food that we caught through out the day. Finally we added spice and our meal was finished. We ate, shared stories about the day and took pictures. What a wonderful time to spend among friends, and now family. We have grown so close in 4 months it will be difficult to leave, but all good things must come to in end in order that better things can come to light. Coming back to worship we shared testimonies of our time here, blessing one another and sharing tears. What a beautiful picture, and reminder of our unity in Christ.

This would be their first time traveling to another village and sharing the word of God with people they did not know. The Village that was chosen was Busajoe, a very remote and poor Karen village in Mae Hong Son. The Busajoe church is young and without a leader, or a pastor. So the people were eager for a visit. Along the way we stopped and snacked before heading out again. Joined by a volunteer by the name of Danielle we traveled 2 hours into the mountains before finally arriving at the village. As we visited different houses around the village we took turns sharing about God’s love, encouraging the people to continue to press on. We prayed that God would send a servant to tend to the people of this village, please be praying for them as well!

Students worked with different area representatives to set up booths, certain areas presented issues of concern or sale outside of the meeting area. I met many old friends as well as making new friends. At our house in Teamekerlah we had about 20 people stay, and at The Life Center, another 20 people stayed for the duration of the meeting. After the meeting students, Tatupa as well as myself returned to the field to pick up trash as well as deconstruct the meeting area. Praise God for an exciting week!

Spring Semester in Thailand students had an opportunity to visit Witoon in Bala Village this past month. 29 students 2 helpers and 3 translators Mike and Ann Leming (Directors) traveled to the village on the 22nd of march and stayed until the 30th. Students in the 2012 SST group planted 500 banana tree’s alongside farmers. This year students worked hard to plant 1009 Banana tree’s with local farmers in our banana group. The students had the opportunity not only to learn about Lahu and Akha culture but also had a chance to understand the reality that many local farmers face in addition to being exposed to change in the midst of a broken world. I firmly believe that lives were changed and visions were cast by students fascinated and passionate about the world they live in. Our hope for them is that their experience could be lifechanging and eyeopening that one day they can commit their lives to serve those less fortunate than themselves! What a great week for the students and the villagers!

As most of the land has been burned and destroyed by chemicals some of the top soil has washed away. Some land cannot be used anymore because it has been utterly destroyed by overuse of chemicals and pesticides. We appricaite our dear friends visit and hope to bring more groups from Japan to join with the local farmers and work to build a more sustainable future through local grassroots initiatives like Witoon’s Community Development Project.

In Teemekerlah village farmers have invested in pig feed for their pigs. It is exciting to see community interest growing in all three locations, it will be great to watch this program as it grows. The local committee will meet later this month on how to better tackle some of the issues as well as add more structure to the program. The goal of this initiative is to see local farmers having the resources to begin to make a sustainable income through their existing agricultural occupations. As this small program grows we will continue to pray for God’s good guidance.

Nawgeay, which means beautiful in Karen, has experienced much growth in her walk. Upon coming to the Life Center she shared with us that Demons had tormented her for years, in the past her family would engage in animal sacrifice to the spirits, but upon coming to the local community they have come to accept Christ as their savior. Nawgeay herself has shared that her life is truly changed and she feels much closer to God. She has gained confidence and I believe she will be a future learned in her new home village of Ban Den.

The students exchanged, language games and fun with The Life Center students, learned Karen culture and worshiped together. Local community members also joined the event. The Teemekerlah Village choir even came to show Karen Dance, Sword fighting and culture. Community elders joined in the fun to teach about how to play the Karen blow horn. The Life Center students were left with a great sense of appreciation for the foreign exchange students. After spending time singing songs, going out in the jungle to catch fish and enjoying the culture SST students also had a great time. In fact, 3 of these students will return back to the Karen villages in May to join the Adopt- a- Village program which encourages locals and foreigners to build meaningful relationships based in Christ.

Near the end of the program students had an opportunity to join local farmers in building trestles for Passion Fruit vines to grow upon. These farmers have joined the Restore Initiative which aims to encourage farmers to integrate their farm with various cash crops. Although students only came for a short time they were able to be apart of the solution, joining local people who themselves are fighting for change! Thank God for a great week!

On April 1st we were so happy to have a new Mom and Bub join our Home of the Swallow Family. Mommy Morn and 3 month old baby boy Pun are from the hill tribes in Northern Thailand and have faced many struggles in their lives. Morn has experienced much hardship and rejection in her life and was in an unsafe relationship which she had to flee from. After seeking help at a local Hospital and staying at a government refuge, she was able to come and live here with us. We are so glad that we can care for this beautiful young family and see them come to know the love of Christ in their lives and receive the healing they need. Please pray for Morn and Pun’s safety whilst they are with us for the year and pray for wisdom for our staff as they seek the best way to help them.

I was suspended 31 January 2013 from my employment without pay on allegation of “gross incompetency in the performance of my work”.
I am currently employed as an Executive Director in a bank and have been working for the past 39 years and 11 years for the employer who has suspended me. Shareholders / owners of my current employer changed in March 2012 and I am one of the two executives from the previous regime still in the employment of my employer. The change in ownership of the company resulted in the appointment of a new managing director and board of directors. The allegation was fabricated when I refused to accept an exit/severance pay package, which, in my view, was inconsistent with my contract of employment. The allegation is false and malicious and is intended to fix me for refusing to accept the employer’s terms of employment termination which are designed to financial prejudice me. I attended the initial disciplinary hearing (court) to answer the alleged misconduct on Monday, 18 February 2013 , which has since been adjourned to 19 April 2013 at 7.00 hours (GMT) and this may result in my dismissal from work.
I was suspended without pay three (3) months ago and because of the long period of suspension I have now exhausted all my savings, as a result, I am now failing to pay my bills and my daughter’s tuition and residence fees at a foreign University. I have massive legal fees to pay the attorney who is representing me in this case.

I am, therefore, asking you to pray:
- For justice and fairness to prevail in this trial;
- For the hearing officer (judge) to be honesty and impartial;
- For the truth to prevail;
- For God and the Holy Spirit to defend and protect me against those who are fighting and PERSECUTING me in this case;
Ask God to defend me against this false allegation;
- Ask God to expose corruption, favoritism, bias, dishonesty, fraudulence, lies and falsehood in this case;
- That I be acquitted because I have done nothing wrong but I am being persecuted and victimized for standing up for the truth and being ethical;
- A peaceful resolution;
- A quick resolution;
- A mutual and fair separation; and
- For my lawyer and his team to be guided by the Lord and the Holy Spirit in their preparation of my defense outline.
Thank you and God Bless
This April I plan to have a Retreat in which all of my staff will be a part of. I feel this is a very important event for our staff, BLT alumni, and other friends to be a part of. The reason I feel that it is so important is that the purpose behind the retreat is to focus on family, and if my staff are married, they are required to come as a couple. The topic of the study is “The Family in the Bible”. The retreat will be a time to rest and spend time with your spouse. We are pleased to have 4-5 Lahu families come from China who are friends with our Lahu Literature Project students that we taught last year. The purpose of their visit is to come and learn more about how we do our ministry here so that they can better there ministry in China. This retreat will be held in Mae Hong Son Province and we plan to be there for four or five days, with a fairly easy schedule of Bible study in the morning and fishing or other types of relaxing things in the afternoons. Please pray with us as we prepare for this retreat and pray that it will be a great time of fellowship, rest and bonding with our friends and as well as with our spouses

From the picture: While we are working with the children, International Justice Mission (IJM) has been working with the family and help them with career training through raising pigs and small investment that suit the local needs.

We were blessed to witness the excitement which was shown from the mother’s face, and how proud she was to show her daughter the two happy pigs that she has been raised and which will eventually become the income for family. Please pray that God will continue to bless the family, and pray for the full restoration of the children and their families in our programs.

God is moving in Home of the Swallow. We are entering a time of great change and transition and we praise God for opening the doors to new opportunities for us all. Next week 3 of our mother’s and babies will be moving out of Home of the Swallow into the Home of the Swallow Transition Home. We have been praying for many years to have a transition home to help the mom’s that are ready to leave us but have no family to go back to or want to stay living close by our family. We have secured a townhouse to rent just a few streets down from our home and the mom’s will be completely responsible for the place. We have received some funding to furnish the house with mattresses, fans, gas stove, wardrobes and more so the girls will have a comfortable place to live.

Please pray for our girls as they transition. Pray that their fear and doubts would turn to joy as they see the Lord leading and directing their steps. Pray that they would grow closer to God each day, learning to rely on Him for all things. God is living on the inside of them and so we know He will continue to love and take care of them no matter where they live.

As these 3 mother’s and babies leave we will be welcoming 3 new mother’s and baby’s into our Home of the Swallow family in 2 weeks time. Please also pray for their transition as they come from difficult backgrounds. We pray that God would use us to help them transform their lives for the better and see them grow and flourish into responsible young mothers.
